Ibis Styles Kyoto Station
Excellent location opposite railway station. Step out of the bullet train (Shinkansen), leave the station by the south exit and you will find the modern Ibis hotel in front of you. Use the bus station on the other side of the railway to access all the major temples and shrines. Day tickets for the bus can be purchased from Reception.
Rooms tend to appear smaller than they actually are, due to the surprisingly wide twin-beds. Bathroom have plenty of extras (razor, toothbrush, shower caps, etc). There is a fridge but no mini-bars. Ice machines and vending machines on each floor, some dispensing alcoholic drinks. TV has BBC World in English. Pay TV is also available.
Electrical adapters and umbrellas are supplied on loan free of charge. The cyber corner has a computer and a printer. Unfortunately, the computer is set up for Japanese language characters, and although it can be changed to other character sets, it can be tricky.
The Hotel has two automatic washing machines that work with cold water and dispense the necessary detergent. Great for those on long trips. The clothes come out nearly dry and as the drying machines available might damage the clothes it is best to hang them to dry completely in the bathrooms.
The Railway station offers an immense choice of restaurants, most at very reasonable prices.
